A new president for Avon Products

At the start of 2017 the direct sales beauty company moved its global business offices from the US to the UK. And in the intervening months there have been several leadership changes at Avon Products. Now, John Higson is retiring and a new global president will join the company.

John Higson is Avon Products current executive vice president and chief commercial officer. He has been with the cosmetics and personal care company for more than 30 years. This September Higson will retire.

“On behalf of the entire Avon team, I would like to thank John for his countless contributions to Avon, and his many years of dedicated service to the Avon Representatives,” says Sheri McCoy in a media release about the leadership change. She adds that “we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Slightly before Higson steps down, Miguel Fernandez will join the company as global president. He’s scheduled to get to work as president on August 14, according to the media release. And in the new role will have “responsibility for commercial business operations.”

Fernandez will work out of the company’s new London headquarters and report directly to Sheri McCoy.

Most previously Fernandez was the executive vice president and managing director for the Americas and worldwide member operations at Herbalife. In his years with that company Fernandez also served as senior vice president and managing director of Mexico and held roles in finance and distributor operations too.

“I am delighted to welcome an executive of Miguel's caliber to Avon's leadership team,” McCoy tells the press. “Miguel's expertise in general management, global sales, marketing and operational excellence, will help us accelerate changes in our commercial operations and drive profitable growth.”
