Lucas Meyer to introduce stem cell anti-aging ingredient
The Canada-based ingredients provider says that its SWT-7 aims to give users smoother looking skin, as well as the ability to ‘blur’ the appearance of vertical wrinkles, skin texture, lip contour wrinkles and roughness.
And there is one other rather unusual claim the supplier is making: the ingredient is also effective at reducing the migration of lipstick, which is thanks to the inclusion of liposoluble version.
Reconstructive tissue engineering
The Lucas Meyer development team says that the key to the claim is the fact that the ingredient has been based on the latest reconstructive tissue engineering, which has helped advance capabilities significantly.
Indeed, the ingredient has been designed to stimulate keratinocyte proliferation to regenerate thin epidermis and to improve the look of aged skin or skin that is suffering the visible effect of photo aging.
According to the company, this mechanism has never before been seen and has been brought about thanks to the inclusion of stem cell science that has enabled cell-to-cell communication between the adipose-derived stem cells (ADSC) and keratynocytes through the growth factor action.
Indian gentian leaves
SWT-7 is titrated in swertiamarin, an android extracted from Indian gentian leaves, which is incorporated into a biomimetic pathway to give the ingredient its anti-aging action, and in particular is said to have a visible action on vertical wrinkles and lip contours within the first seven days of use.
“The anti-aging market segment has become increasingly competitive and saturated, putting a lot of pressure on product development teams to innovate. But this ingredient is a real breakthrough,” said Lucas Meyer marketing director Isabelle Lacasse.
“From the origin of the molecule to the product carrier, or to the never-seen before mechanism of action and the 4 clinical studies showing real improvement in only 7 days, we are truly proud of this latest anti-aging addition in our portfolio.”
Lucas Meyer shortlisted for Innovation Award
The company has also been shortlisted for the in-cosmetics Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Awards for SWT-7 and Legicel ingredients, which were submitted as the Happiness in a Jar concept, while both ingredients are also finalists for the active ingredient and functional ingredients categories, respectively.
Lucas Meyer will be showing the latest additions to its ingredients portfolio, as well as the Happiness in a Jar concept at booth 6B50, during the in-cosmetics event, 14 – 16 April.
