Canus, in Quebec, markets a variety of goat’s milk products globally. The company began as a family owned business, making bars of soap with goat’s milk. Canus now owns over eighty different cosmetic products that contain a base of goat’s milk along with infusions of olive oil, orchid, and marigold.

According to Zum Bar, makers of natural goat’s milk soap, the naturally occurring capric, caprylic and capronic acids and triglycerides or good fats are beneficial to the hair and skin due to the pH balance of goat’s milk.

Chivas, goat milk skin care, uses the ingredient because the milk has a short-strand protein structure allowing it to be easily absorbed into the skin.

Additionally, goat’s milk may be used in hair formulations since the pH level may promote healthy hair by enabling the composition of proteins that penetrates the scalp and soothes the follicle. Long-term application may significantly improve hair softness and moisture.

Goat’s milk is useful in formulations as goat milk’s protein and fatty acid composition is distinct from traditional natural ingredients and is not easily replicated which offers vast potential for market innovation using goat’s milk.
