Consumer products giant Procter & Gamble has licensed use of the Olay trademark to US pharmaceutical company Pharmavite to manufacture and market Olay Vitamins, a vitamin line designed exclusively for women.
"As a leader in the field of skin care for over 50 years, Olay is dedicated to helping women look and feel their best," said Bill Brace, Olay marketing director. Joining with Pharmavite was the obvious choice because they have a high quality reputation and an unparalleled expertise in understanding women's nutritional needs. Olay vitamins close the link between inner beauty and outer beauty for women to look and feel their best."
Tom Zimmerman, Pharmavite vice president, business development added : "We are thrilled to join with Olay to develop a supplement line that meets the specific health and beauty needs of women everywhere. Olay Vitamins will combine Olay's skin care expertise and Pharmavite's knowledge of women's health and nutritional needs."
Olay Vitamins will consist of two product lines launched later this year, Beauty Nutrients and Wellness Nutrients, the idea being that women create their own supplement regimen to best meet their individual beauty and health needs.
This is the latest in a number of external business agreements struck by P&G designed to combine P&G's trademarks, technology and/or know-how with 'best-in-class outside companies' to deliver mutually positive business results.
