Israeli nutritional oil company Enzymotec claims its newly developed natural oil based product, MultOil, has been found to have a broad efficacy profile in skincare applications. The company is targeting manufacturers of creams, balms, lipsticks and lotions wishing to add an anti-ageing property to their products.

"Enzymotec is able to transform any natural oil into an anti-ageing ingredient, by strong collagen stimulation and active wrinkle reduction. Furthermore, studies reveal that it has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect on sensitive and damaged skin together with excellent moisturising and softening properties," said Dr Dorit Platt, head of the sterol-modification research group at Enzymotec.

Recent experiments by Dermac Laboratory revealed that due to its emulsification properties, MultOil allows castor-free formulations, important for lipsticks and lip care products, said the company. Cosmetic manufacturers will therefore be able to claim "all natural" ingredients. Dr Platt said the company's processing of natural oils guarantees that the natural ingredients are kept intact.

Enzymotec recently launched MultOil, natural oils enriched with phytosterols-esters and DAG, for use in foods and nutraceuticals.
