Simpson, along with designer Randi Shinder, launched the 'kissable, lickable' line of cosmetics and fragrances that carry one of the three scents - creamy, dreamy or juicy - in New York earlier this week.
Called Dessert, the line features eatible whipped body cream, lip-plumping fragrance, chocolate body gloss and powdered-sugar body shimmer. The new range will be available at Sephora cosmetic stores across the United States in April and will be targeted at teens and young adults.
It appears that Mintel's prediction for cosmetics in 2004 is becoming a reality. In December 2003, the market analyst said that indulgent food scents would be among the hot topics in vanity categories this year. The Jaqua Girls Bakery Collection has already featured products that smell like fresh-baked goods with ingredients like brown sugar and cinnamon.
Mintel claims that this latest trend is encouraging for innovation in the relatively new cosmeceutical market.
Fresh cream, chocolate, and honey are thought to lead the way for popular scents in 2004.
