Sleeving key to shelf visibility for JPG fragrances

As part of the update to the Jean Paul Gaultier perfume range, the company has again chosen Sleever International to provide secondary packaging that is said to increase shelf visibility.

Jean Paul Gaultier, known for its distinctive perfume packaging designs, upgraded the packaging for its 50 and 100 ml spray packs in metal cans this summer. A priority for the company was that the secondary packaging did not detract from the perfumes uniquely eye-catching design.

"With our specially designed sleeve we have been able to maintain maximum shelf visibility, whilst retaining maximum protection for the perfume," said Marina André, marketing manager for Sleeve International.

"Because of the design, it means that the packaging does not detract from the intricate design of the container. It also allows for easy opening, which guarantees the safe opening of the perfume itself."

According to the company the priorities for the sleeve were that the design also met technical requirements, such as sophisticated artwork, protection and tamper evidence, as well as incorporating the aesthetical choices made by their designer.

The printing techniques, together with the quality of SI-PET / SF-050 film, have also created a play of light between the metal can and the sleeve, and highlight the perfume's new 'rose'design. Eight-colour printing (including a four-colour printing process) enables thefamous Jean Paul Gaultier 'bust' to stand out and consumer information to be enhancedon the pink surface of the packaging.

The seal-tight opening system of the sleever also aims to ensure product safety - one of the major packaging concerns for the selective markets in top brand perfumery.

"Without a cumbersome cardboard box, the perfume is immediately more attractive," said André. "The Sleever succeeds in meeting the product's high visualrequirements and continues to offer protection against the risks encountered duringdistribution."

Sleever International supplies sleeving to a number of leading fragrance manufacturers, including names such as Yves Saint Laurent. Based in France, it is one of the world's leading providers of shrink sleeve labelling and tamper-evident solutions for food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, household products.
