Travertine Spa pursues natural anti-aging hair care
market with its Hair Therapy line to be previewed at the
International SPA Association (ISPA) Expo.
Incorporating SPFs and other age defying ingredients into shampoos and conditioners has become common as a means of protecting the hair from UV rays and to prevent it from aging prematurely.
Natural anti-aging hair care
The new range from Travertine Spa follows the anti-aging hair care trend but with a natural twist and without the use of SPFs.
Indian gooseberry extract lies at the heart of the new formulation, with the company claiming it prevents premature gray hair and encourages growth and healthy pigmentation.
In recent years manufacturers have been coming up with hair care products containing specific ingredients that help fight the visible signs of aging in hair.
In 2005 Croda became the first company to launch an anti-aging ingredient for the hair care market with its Keractec IFP ingredient and others have followed with natural alternatives being the latest addition to the trend.
The formulations The Travertine Spa products also contain tea-tree essential oil to help cleanse and repair dry and damaged hair.
In addition soy protein, shikaki nut and neem extract are added for moisture and luster.
"We originally created Protein Shampoo and Protein Conditioner because a high-end gym in Los Angeles wanted natural botanical products for clients in the showers," said Travertine Spa spokesperson Neda Assadi.
"The gym's customers and our current clients began asking for a retail size so formulated a retail product."
The Hair Therapy line is aimed at the boutique market and individual bottles are priced at between $25 and $30.
