Nathalie Feisthauer has been hired as a senior perfumer at Symrise’s creative centre in Paris.
After having spent the majority of her career at Givaudan, and with a number of best selling perfumes under her belt, the Germany-based fragrance and flavours player is hoping the new recruit will help strengthen the division.
Global president of scent and care at Symrise Achim Daub welcomed Fiesthauer on board saying: “We’re always looking for highly creative perfumers with a strong commercial foundation as well as broad international experience who can add significant creative momentum to our global fragrance development efforts.”
“Nathalie Feisthauer is an extraordinary perfumer who will strongly contribute to the continuous expansion of our world-class expertise in the field of creative perfumery.”
Symrise’s fine fragrance business division has been causing the company some trouble in recent months as disappointing sales have been dragging down the more respectable performance of the flavours department.
Results for the most recent quarter ending September 30 showed a sales drop of 2.3 per cent for the perfume and cosmetics division as a whole, taking sales down to €509.7m from €521.8m last year.
Within this it was fine fragrances and the luxury end of personal care products that were particularly badly hit, which the company put down to weaker demand from the luxury segments.
At the publication of the results a Symrise spokesperson said reduced sales of luxury items was due to market conditions and that there was no cause for concern for the overall business.
