High demand leads Stiefel Laboratories to expand skin care line

Tapping into demand for post-operative cosmetic procedure treatments, Stiefel Laboratories is expanding its Revaleskin skin care line with three new products.

Containing antioxidant-rich CoffeeBerry extract, the additions include a replenishing eye therapy, an intense recovery treatment and a chest/decolletage rejuvenating treatment, which adds to the existing line-up of a day cream with an SP15 sunscreen, a night cream and a facial cleanser.

Steifel Laboratories’ president William Humphries described the response to the original product line launch as ‘overwhelming’, spurring the company on to follow up with the three new products.

CoffeeBerry extract speeds up recovery

The new products in the line also feature a 1.5 percent dose of CoffeeBerry extract, which is being prescribed by physicians to not only target signs of aging, but also to help speed up recovery following cosmetic surgery because it helps reduce puffiness and skin rejuvination.

The company is expanding the physician-dispensed range by tapping into niche areas of the anti-aging markets, falling in line with consumer concerns.

Until recently cosmetics procedures and associated anti-aging treatments have had a ‘one size fits all’ approach which meant little choice for the consumer.

Anti-aging for more than just the face

However, as both the cosmetic surgery market and associated treatments become increasingly more sophisticated, skin care manufacturers are developing increasingly niche products that target specific post-operative procedures.

The company has already soft launched its eye therapy treatment at the end of this summer, claiming that there was a waiting list of consumers eager to try the product out for themselves.

The other two products – the intense therapy and the chest treatment – are scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2009.
