The New Jersey-based ingredients provider was acquired by the Kemira group in April 2007.
It originally took on the name Kemira Specialty to signify the integration of the group into the parent company.
However, the cosmetics raw materials provider will now be referred to as Tri-K.
Reclaims own website
It will also reclaim its own website, which under the original name change had been incorporated into Kemira’s internet offering.
According to the company the reversal of the name change is to distinguish the cosmetics company from a joint venture recently launched by the parent company with a focus on titanium dioxide.
“Tri-K is well known in the industry as a leading distributor of cosmetics raw materials. Returning to the Tri-K name allows us to capitalise on our brand equity, while distinguishing our distribution business from the titanium dioxide focus of Sachtleben,” said Tri-K marketing manager Laurent DelDotto.
Leading the way in titanium oxides
The Sachtleben enterprise combines Kemira’s titanium dioxide business with that of Rockwood Holdings.
Launched in September, companies claimed the venture became one of the world’s leading producers of titanium dioxide pigments serving the packaging, fiber, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries.
The venture will work out of two factories, one in Duisberg, Germany and one in Pori, Finland.
