Regu-cea was presented at this year’s in-cosmetics and, according to the company, fights the symptoms of rosacea and skin reddening at multiple levels.
Three actives in one
The complex includes three actives; spent grain wax, palmitoyl tripeptide-5 and conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
Spent grain wax is included for its itch-relieving, soothing properties, whereas the palmitoyl tripeptide-5 stimulates collagen production and inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, explains DSM.
The CLA helps to soothe the skin irritation and recover the epidermal barrier function, according to the company.
Together these three actives help fight against vasodilation and the redness associated with skin rosacea as well as inhibiting the release of enzymes that lead to damage to the skin structure, DSM claims.
The ingredient can be formulated into a range of products including day creams for red skin, primers to be applied under make-up products and intensive treatments related to rosacea symptoms.
Regu-cea has been in the product pipeline since the acquisition of Pentapharm in 2007, explained DSM’s director of personal care Michael Weller.
'It was cooking in the Pentapharm pipeline and now DSM has adapted it for broad use,' said Weller.
Full range presented at in-cosmetics
The company presented the full portfolio of skin actives at the show in Munich this month, in an attempt to illustrate the wide reaching nature of the range since the Swiss skin care specialist was acquired.
Actives targeting the needs of the skin from morning to night were showcased along with DSM’s sunscreen range Parsol.
