Organic ingredient launches only just starting to match marketing buzz
Organic alternatives to certain synthetic ingredients have been elusive. Peter Boncelet from Earth Supplied Products explains why organic cosmetics have yet to fully live up to the marketing hype but suggests that chemistry is starting to catch up.

According to Boncelet, the USDA’s organic regulations were originally designed for the food industry. This precludes a number of processes often used in the production of personal care products, making organic versions of certain cosmetic ingredients difficult to obtain.

However, for Boncelet the answer is not to relax the rules but to improve the technology. He says we are just starting develop organic formulations that match the aspirations of marketers and consumers.
