Also aimed at the functional food and beverage category, the ingredient primarily aims to boost the performance of the body’s immune system, and is marketed as part of the company’s line of Immune-Performance products.
Available for both oral and topical applications, the ingredient can be targeted at a range of personal care and cosmetic products, but will be most pertinent for anti-aging skin care ranges.
Game-changing efficacy
“Alasta has the power to transform and ordinary product into a game-changer,” said Denise DeBaun, company CEO and president.
DeBaun added that the ingredient could help to develop more innovative and beneficial products for the cosmetics market, helping to tap into one of the key growth categories: the anti-aging market.
Alasta’s efficacy depends on a patented technology called Aloeride, which is an active extract that has been licensed by the University of Mississippi, where the technology was first developed.
Derived from aloe vera rind
It is derived from the rind of the aloe vera plant, which studies have shown to provide the highest macrophage activation of any of the plant’s polysaccharides.
It is derived from a sustainable and organic extraction process that helps to preserve the bio-activity of the plant extract, ensuring both efficacy and consistent results, the company claims.
A comprehensive set of clinical tests are said to back up the efficacy claims of the ingredient, which includes claims up to 72 percent improvement in skin elasticity and increased cell turnover in the space of 8 weeks for topical purposes.
