P&G acknowledges its top performing global suppliers

Procter & Gamble has honoured some of the world’s leading personal care suppliers at its annual suppliers awards event.

This year the awards have focused on the company’s Purpose strategy, which subscribes to sustainable and ethical business practices that ultimately aim to improve the lives of consumers.

“This strategy is inspired by P&G’s Purpose and it can only be executed in partnership with our suppliers,” said company president and CEO Bob McDonald.

“We are all focused on touching and improving lives, which requires us – together – to innovate, to streamline and improve the supply chain, to simplify the way we work and to create sustainable solutions that improve lives.”

P&G works with over 80,000 suppliers

P&G claims to work with more than 80,000 suppliers, making the proceedings for the awards an extensive procedure. However, the company managed to short-list seven suppliers for the top ‘Supplier of the Year’ honours.

In Europe the list includes BASF, which supplies fine chemicals for its laundry and beauty products; Evonik, which supplies chemicals for nappies and laundry products; and Novozymes, which supplies chemicals for laundry and cleaning products.

In the US, the recognized suppliers include Havpak, which supplies packaging and contract manufacturing services; Jones Lang LaSalle, which provides management services and laboratory locations; RockTenn, which supplies packaging and customization services and The Cly-Del Manufacturing Co.

Three companies recognized two years in succession

The awards meant that three companies received Supplier of the Year honours for the second year in a row: Cly-Del, Jones Lang LaSalle and Novozymes.

P&G also recognized 55 other suppliers as providing consistently high levels of service with it 'Corporate Supplier Excellence' award.

Of that list, players supplying the beauty market included International Flavors and Fragrances, Sasol Olefins & Surfactants, The Specialized Packaging Group, Time Release Sciences and Toyo Aerosol Industry.
