TricorBraun’s interlocking bottles receive patent

US-based packaging designer and supplier, TricorBraun, has received a patent for its interlocking bottle technology.

The bottles, which are identically shaped, feature two opposing dovetails that allow them to slide together and lock.

According to TricorBraun, the bottles are a logical choice for complementary personal care products such as shampoo and conditioner or hand lotion and sanitizer.

Craig Sawiki, executive vice president of TricorBraun design and development, said that the interlocking technology was developed in response to industry demand.

“For years there has been a need for a secure system to hold two bottles together, whether they are two complementary products or ingredients that need to remain separate until dispensing,” he said.

According to the company, the interlocking configuration provides the product manufacturer with valuable marketing support.

“The ability to have two complementing products at the point of purchase is a benefit for the product manufacturer as it may increase use of more than one item in their product line,” Suzie Fenton, director of marketing at TricorBraun, told CosmeticsDesign.

In addition, the ease with which the bottles can be separated offers the end consumer flexibility, as the products may be kept together or detached for use in separate locations, said Fenton.

TricorBraun is an international supplier of rigid packaging options, with over 30 locations across North America, and an office in Guangzhou, China.
