Ingredients supplier Presperse has signed a partnership with Kyowa Hakka USA to bring its amino acid-based ingredients and technologies to the personal care and cosmetics market.

The Japan-headquartered company develops and applies fermentation technology and concentrates on producing ingredients for the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical industries.

With the Presperse deal, two of the company’s ingredients will be made available to cosmetics and personal care players with the idea of adding more to the portfolio in the future.

The first two to hit the market are a skin barrier protection ingredient called AHYP (n-Acetyl-L-Hydroxyproline) and a vitamin B-based product, Panadoxine P.

Improves skin barrier properties

AHYP Natural Skin Barrier is produced through fermenting natural sugars using Kyowa Hakka’s patented techniques.

According to Presperse, the ingredient has been shown in clinical tests to help elevate collagen synthesis, improve skin elasticity and generally help strengthen the skin’s barrier properties.

On interaction with the body’s enzymes, Panadoxine P is released as vitamin B6, Presperse explained.

As Panadoxine P has good stability it can penetrate through the top layer of skin and help improve skin roughness and reduce inflammation, the company claims.
