As part of the planned changes, the company will be moving its customer care and logistics functions from Toronto, Canada, to Pennsylvania, USA, at the same time as recruiting additional sales staff for the region.
Moving the customer care office, which should be completed by the end of 2010, will allow the company's business management system SAP to be integrated into its Canadian operations.
According to marketing manager for communications Cara Eaton, this will allow Canadian customers to benefit from the better service, such as timely order fulfillment and delivery, this system can provide.
Increasing the sales force
In addition, the company is planning on increasing the size of its front line sales force in Canada, in an attempt to maintain a strong position in the country. A small sales support team will also be maintained in the region, Eaton said.
The company will also move to a third party storage warehouse facility, rather than providing the service directly.
“We are a specialty chemicals business, and contracting out the warehousing service to a third party allows us to concentrate on our main business focus,” Eaton explained.
Using an external provider for this service will also help make cost savings, she said.
