Luxe Pack New York gears up for all things green

Luxe Pack New York, which opens its doors on May 19, will have a distinctly green angle to it this year, falling in line with consumer demands for eco-friendly packaging.

The show will be held over two days at the Altman Building and Metropolitan Pavillion, a new bigger venue that the organizers say will cater for the increased room needed to host more exhibitors, as well as the regular seminars and presentations.

“This year, as environmentally responsible packaging becomes more and more important, and manufacturers produce a stronger offer, we felt it was important to shine the spotlight on exhibitors’ green products with a special seminar called Luxury In Green,” said Nathalie Grosdidier, executive director of Luxe Pack New York.

The Luxe Pack in Green will showcase some of the most ground-breaking and important environmentally-friendly initiatives being made in the industry in a prominent display area within the exhibition hall.

Likewise, the FiFi Nominees will also be presented as part of the show’s proceedings, while student designs from Marc Rosen’s packaging design program at the Pratt Institute will also be featured.

This year the show will also be covered by the CosmeticsDesign.com USA editorial team, who will be discussing all the key issues with exhibitors and reporting back about the findings.

Comprehensive covereage of seminars and presentations

Likewise, the team will undertake comprehensive coverage of the show’s presentations and seminars, bringing readers the most useful and up-to-date information about the latest developments in the luxury packaging segment.

In 2009 the luxury personal care market has been hard hit by two significant elements. The first being the global economic crisis, while the second is increasing pressure on packaging designers to develop packaging with a lowered environmental footprint.

The editorial team will set out to discover how players in the luxury packaging segment have adapted to these conditions and describe how they are positioning themselves or reinventing their businesses to ensure future growth and development.

On the show floor, the extended exhibition space will be given over to a number of first time exhibitors, who this year are expected to include Alkos, Alnoor, Anomatic, Baxter-Pavisa, Ever Spring and World Wide Packaging, the organizers claim.

On top of this, returning exhibitors will include Dieter Bakic, Alcan Packaging Beauty, Cartondruck USA, MWV Beauty, Curtis Packaging, Heinz Glas USA and Ileos group.
