Aptar Beauty + Home is a division of the Aptar Group, and manufactures dispensing systems, spray fittings and closures for the personal care market.
Its new perfume atomizer, Eternelle, features a locking mechanism that means the bottle can be ‘locked’ and ‘unlocked’ with a quarter turn, ensuring the contents does not leak.
No separate cap required
In addition, the patented design of the atomizer allows the bulb to be directly mounted onto the perfume bottle on the production line by manufacturers, eliminating the need for a separate cap.
He said the main point of interest with this design is that the end user is presented with the finished product when the box is opened, rather than having to attach the atomizer themselves.
Atomizers popular in prestige market
Bousquel noted that perfume atomizers are particularly popular within the prestige fragrance market as they are perceived as luxury accessories.
“The gesture [of spraying the perfume] is considered as graceful, elegant and more feminine,” he said.
According to Aptar, the atomizer adapts to FEA 15 (Seal Tight) and Europa 4 bottle necks, and the same bottle can be used without adaptation for both classic spray bottles and bulb spray versions.
“It's a huge advantage to re-use an existing FEA 15 eau de toilette bottle for crimp or crimpless,” said Bousquel, explaining that this is made possible due to the fact the design of Eternelle ensures the fragrance does not leak.
“Otherwise you would need a screw version (with a screwing cap) and a crimp version of the bottle due to the leakproofness needed,” he said.
