Specialty fragrance and flavors ingredient provider Artiste Flavor Essence says the arrangement will help it tap into a reliable supply of naturally derived oil that can be used in a wide variety of fragranced products, including personal care.
“The relationship is a win-win for both organizations,” said Artiste director Joe Raimondo. “Bestino gains a dedicated product representative in North America, while Artiste is able to secure regionally-exclusive access to a reliable supplier of premium fragrance ingredients.”
Artiste focus on idigenous raw material suppliers
The alliance forms part of Artiste’s model to focus on working in conjunction with key indigenous producers of raw materials for both fragrances and flavors, worldwide.
The fact that Bestino is focused on natural-based oils also tunes into one of the most important trends in the cosmetics field – the demand for natural and organic products.
With consumers asking for product formulations that are based on natural ingredients, the sourcing of such raw materials has become a priority for many companies, which is in turn putting huge pressure on suppliers worldwide.
Raw materials produced using a unique technique
Artiste will be supplying a range of Bestino’s fragrance ingredient portfolio, which includes vanilla oil, sandalwood, jasmine and patchouli, all of which are produced by the Malaysian company using a unique gas, ambient temperature process, Raimondo also stated.
The crops for the oils are grown in Papua New Guinea, India and Vietnam, commonly according to organic farming principles, then transported to Bestino’s extraction facility in Ipoh, which became operational at the end of 2008.
The company took the decision to expand its business into plant-based oils relatively recently as means of expanding away from its core focus supplying gold materials and related products and services.
