Cosmetics scientists join Personal Care Truth
The organization has appointed Amanda Foxon-Hill and Doug Schoon, both trained scientists with experience specific to the cosmetics and personal care industry.
Speaking about the appointments, Personal Care Truth co-founder Lisa Rodgers said: “Not only will consumers learn a great deal from them, I feel industry people will be sharing their knowledge with all of us.”
Foxon-Hill started her career in Europe with distributor Brenntag in 1998, during which time she also completed a diploma in cosmetics science to tailor her background in chemical science to her chosen industry.
She then worked with chemicals company Innospec, before relocating to Australia to work for Bronson and Jacobs, where she specialized in sunscreens, silicones and anti-aging actives.
Realize Beauty blog
She now runs the Realize Beauty blog, providing science-based news and information about the industry and product formulation as well as running cosmetics workshop.
Douglas Schoon has over 30 years industry experience and has carved out a name for himself as a cosmetic scientist, educator and author, as well as being an authority on technical and regulatory aspects of the industry.
He is co-chair of the Nail Manufacturers Council and was also chief scientist for Creative Nail Design, but in more recent years has worked in a consultative capacity with the industry.
Paula Begoun joins expert panel
Last month Personal Care Truth added Paula Begoun to its panel of experts. Begoun is the creator of the Paula’s Choice skin care range and the website Cosmetics Cop, and has been reporting on the beauty industry for over 25 years, according to Personal Care Truth.
Other panel members include formulator and microbiologist Cindy Jones and Dene Godfrey, who has worked for many years in the field of preservatives and is an active member of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS).
The website was set up just over three months ago and aims to provide information related to FDA regulations, legislation, specific ingredients and scientific data in an attempt to combat misinformation and misconceptions.
