New Jersey-based ingredients provider International Specialty Products has launched a range of three naturally-derived skin care solutions, targeting the anti-aging arena.

The Natriance line has been developed for ease of formulation with a range of skin care products, including creams, lotions and serums, while also being positioned as a cost effective solution, making it suitable for mass market products.

The line includes a Hydrator, Destresser and Brightener, all targeting key areas of anti-aging skin care, but likewise areas that have been traditionally associated with premium and more expensive products.

Pea, rice bran and yeast extracts

Each of the three ingredients is based on a natural extract, which the company says is awaiting both patents and Ecocert certification. The natural extracts rely on rice bran for the Destresser, pea for the Hydrator and yeast for the Brightener product.

“These extracts are bioelements from natural sources and are derived from the active portion of the material by a natural process,” said Anna Gripp, senior director, global marketing , ISP Personal Care.

“The product range targets the fact that companies want to achieve better performance from their skin care products, while keeping them as natural as possible and keeping formulation costs down.”

Extensive clinical studies

The product range has been tested through ex-vivo and in-vitro procedures, as well as clinical studies involving volunteers.

The Destresser line has been developed to address both internal and external skin aging factors, thanks to the fact that the rice bran extract boosts energy and fights oxidative stress.

Likewise, the company says that its ex-vivo tests show it helps to minimize damage caused by UV exposure, one of the leading causes of premature aging and wrinkling.

Filaggrin expression

The pea extract in the Hydrator ingredient targets filaggrin expression, helping to boost skin moisture levels, glycosaminoglycans to improve inner skin barrier hydration, while also preserving bound water in the skin and optimizing skin hydration, resulting in an optimized skin barrier - the company claimed.

The yeast extract in the Brightener targets melanocytes, which are linked to the over production of skin pigmentation and dark spots. The ingredient works thanks to an abundance of amino acids and small peptides that contribut to a brighter skin tone.

The company says that in both in-vivo and ex-vivo testing the Brightener was shown to be more effective than common industry solutions for brightening.
