Biodiesel fuels Weleda’s beauty tour

Beauty brand Weleda is over half way through its “Honestly Natural, Truly Beautiful Tour” which has seen its biodiesel truck visiting cities throughout the US.

Citing the environmental benefits of biodiesel, Weleda communications manager, Carrie Ruehlman told CosmeticsDesign.com: “this fits with our brand because it is part of our overall culture to avoid contributing to toxic substances in the environment.”

“It’s biodegradable, nontoxic and essentially free of sulfur dioxide emissions.”

In comparison to ‘old-fashioned petroleum diesel’, biodiesel signified an expensive choice for Weleda, “but we didn’t choose it due to its cost-effectiveness. We’re looking at the triple bottom line and trying to do our part to make the tour have the least impact on the earth as possible” added Ruehlman.

Throughout the tour, Weleda’s efforts have been concentrated on spreading the message that “what goes on you goes in you” with the hope of educating consumers and encouraging support for the Safe Cosmetics Act. The tour began in New York City on September 23rd and will end in Los Angeles on November 7th.
