BRB to use in-cosmetics to launch its silicones in personal care

Silicone producer BRB International has decided to use this years in-cosmetics show in Milan to cement its position as a key supplier to the personal care industry.

According to Marc Ladreyt, BRB Global Silicone marketing manager, the company has the experience in silicone based technology and sees the personal care market as an important one for its silicones.

“BRB masters key technical know-how to succeed in this market: polymerization, emulsification, surfactant knowledge, formulation, rheology & sensory attribute optimization,” he told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.

Considerable growth

Ladreyt continued by stating that the cosmetics market has brought considerable growth for BRB because of its unique positioning.

“We are the fastest silicone player able to answer customers’ unmet needs thanks to our wide range of technologies and unique reactivity. There is a perfect synergy between our core technologies and the market requirements,” he said.

The move into personal care now was to ensure the company was ready for the demands of the market and able to meet them, according to BRB.

“BRB has started investigating this market more than 5 years ago and it has become now one of our main markets. We started participating exhibitions on our distributors’ booths but we have now earned a market recognition from all the personal care industry players. We want to send today a clear signal to the market at in-cosmetics Milan,” Ladreyt explained.

First independent appearance at in-cosmetics

BRB says it will celebrate its success in the personal care industry, by independently exhibiting at in-cosmetics, on 29-31 March 2011, for the first time.

Ladreyt explained the main reason for doing so was to gain BRB recognition as a key silicone player in the personal care ingredients industry, able to rival with the other silicone majors.

The Netherlands-based company is launching a range of silicone crosspolymers which are products acting as thickening agents for water-in-oil and water-in-silicone formulations.

They are compatible with a variety of lipophilic active ingredients such as fragrances, sunscreens, vitamins, and provide dry smoothness and a light silky, non-greasy skin feel.
