MWV keeps costs down as raw materials prices increase

As polypropylene prices are close to hitting all time highs, CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com spoke to packaging supplier MWV’s Barcelona plant manager Angel Fernandez-Carbonell about how the plant is keeping its costs and environmental footprint down.

The company produces both cosmetics and fragrance pumps at its Barcelona facility and Fernandez-Carbonell explained that prices for raw materials such as polypropylene and metals, as well as energy, were going up.

For Fernandez-Carbonell one of the most important ways to keep costs down is to minimise wastage and reuse raw materials whenever possible, and in order to achieve this the company has been implementing different moulding techniques.

In addition, Fernandez-Carbonell detailed four energy saving initiatives that it has been working on since last year, that help optimise the factory and decrease the company’s environmental footprint.
