Dow Personal Care unveils latest conditioning polymer
The business unit of The Dow Chemical Company unveiled its EcoSmooth Satin Conditioning Polymer at the New Jersey event, claiming it offers formulators the ability to address consumer demands for moisturizing body washes and conditioning shampoos.
It is the second polymer from Dow Personal Care’s EcoSmooth platform, and one which the company says is a new efficient conditioning tool.
"With EcoSmooth Satin, formulators are able to capitalize on benefits such as formulation versatility and the ability to create a clear shampoo or body wash without sacrificing performance properties," said Courtney Fretz, strategic marketing manager for hair care at Dow Personal Care.
Independent lab tests
In independent laboratory tests with shampoo formulations, the US-based company claims that EcoSmooth Satin exhibited excellent performance on both wet and dry European damaged hair in wet comb reduction and repeated grooming.
In a comparative panel study with 10 panelists, EcoSmooth Satin was also shown to have comparable feel after rinse on wet and dry skin to both cationic guar and PQ7.
Dow Personal Care explained that EcoSmooth Satin Conditioning Polymer can be easily formulated into many standard surfactant systems, as it is tolerant to heat, has pH variation and shear, thus providing formulators with a wide range of versatility.
