Building on lipsticks
Ford already has a range of lipsticks, Private Blend Lip Color Collection, 12 ultra-pigmented colors that was launched in 2010. The success of the lipsticks, which frequently sell out, has convinced the designer to launch a full collection of beauty products.
The designer admitted to wanting to launch a color cosmetics line as far back as when he was creative director at Gucci and again when he founded his own brand in 2005. Starting out slowly, the success of his range of lipsticks has paved the way for a larger, complete line of products.
“My intention was to do color cosmetics out of the gate, but not everyone else was convinced that I had a voice in color until the lipsticks started selling out again and again”, said the designer in reference to his line of lipsticks.
Ford features in the ads

Moreover, according to examiner.com, many of the skin care products featured in the new collection are used by Ford himself, such as the traceless foundation stick, the purifying crème cleanser and the illuminating protective primer.
The Tom Ford brand is a part of the Estée Lauder group, which was founded by Ford in 2005.
