The agreement was finalized in the hope that the expanded distribution will make Kemin ingredients more accessible to personal care product manufacturers looking for natural ingredients.
"Our decision was based on our joint commitment to provide innovative products with superior customer service and common value of integrity,” said Kerty Levy, president of Kemin's personal care division.
“We are committed to understanding how our products work at the molecular level and are confident the Essential Ingredients team has the experience and technical expertise to understand our technology and convey to their customers how Kemin ingredients will work in their products."
Strong support network
Essential Ingredients is a well-known distributor in the personal care industry, and has sales representatives throughout the Midwestern and Eastern States that will support the distribution of Kemin’s FloraGLO Lutein Topical, Lysofix and Rosamox.
“This is a unique opportunity for us to expand our library of natural product offerings,” commented Chris Gerlach, director of business development, Essential Ingredients.
“We were particularly impressed with the technology involved in Kemin's product development process and their understanding of how each product works in various applications," he added.
Kemin, a privately-owned bioscience company, entered the personal care market in March of this year. The company leveraged its expertise in plant science to develop natural, plant-based functional and active ingredients for cosmetics, skin, hair and body care product manufacturers.
The three particular products focused on personal care are FloraGLO Lutein, a natural antioxidant from marigold extract; Rosamox, a natural antioxidant from a proprietary rosemary extract that prevents oxidative degradation of fats and oils; and Lysofix, a natural emulsifier, extracted from soybeans, that keeps oil and water in emulsion.
