First up is packaging manufacturer Albea, which designed a rotating mascara for Dior’s mascara line Diorshow 360.
“Dior chose to work with Albéa on a rotating mascara because they saw the potential of this kind of breakthrough innovation for the cosmetic industry and we developed it together to be the best on the market,” Maria Viegas, Albéa Creative & Innovation marketing director told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com.
She also stated the patented technology offers stable, silent and gentle revolving action as well as explaining that the creation of this pack design was made with a special focus on the central ring.
“The galvanized silver ring on the bottom of the cap is an elegant reflection of the Dior style and activates the rotating device, which turns the wand upward or downward for easy application,” Viegas said.
Compact elegance
Packaging supplier RPC manufactured the packaging for L’Oréal’s Infallible eye shadow range, adapting its post-molding cooling technique to do so.
According to RPC Marolles, the packaging needed to reflect the style and convenience of the product as well as match elegance with compactness.
The package consists of a transparent 40 by 40 mm jar, which has been injection molded in PET-G.
However, to achieve a perfectly flat exterior wall to the jar it was necessary to alter the cooling system used after molding, RPC explained.
Sustainable packaging
Environmentally friendly packaging has been designed by Taiwanese SR Packaging, who launched a range of refillable lipsticks earlier in the year.
According to the company, consumers are increasingly conscious about the environmental impact of packaging but are unwilling to compromise on performance.
With the ‘i’ series, which contains a number of product variations, the company says it has made environmental savings without sacrificing the luxury feel.
SR Packaging offers a number of options within the ‘i’ series. i-Simplism is the standard configuration and i-Replaceable is the refillable design where thelipstick top can be modified quickly.
In addition, the company offers the i-Presso I in which the lipstick can be released or popped out when pressed, as well as the i-Presso II which sports the same mechanism but with a metal shell for a more luxury feel.
