Quadpack launches airtight cosmetics compact to maintain product freshness

Global packaging manufacturer Quadpack has launched a new airtight compact to enable longer preservation of cosmetics formulations.

The airtight packaging is important as it prevents the formulation drying out from contact with air when the compact is closed as well as preventing re-entry of air as it is being closed”, a company spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign USA.

The packaging also prevents contamination of formulations during travel, both during shipment as well as once the consumer begins using it.

The compact can hold up to 15ml of formulation and is suitable for products such as pressed powders and also thick cream-based foundations or concealers.

It consists of a small, unfolding tray that acts as the sealing top of the product.

The compact is twisted, which can be opened by loosening the top. The tray inside can hold a sponge or pad, and when folded out, will expose the formulation underneath.

When the tray is closed, it rests upon a ridge that runs all around the product reservoir.

Upon twisting the compact shut, the tray is pushed firmly into the ridge, creating an airtight seal thanks to friction, pressure, and the relative softness of the polypropylene liner.

Also, the seal is secure allowing it to be kept in a purse or bag without fear of it opening up in transit.

There are decorations such as colour matching, metalising, metallic spray coating, silk screening and hot stamping available. The airless packaging is available on the market now.
