Dill pickle flavour lip balm – a desirable present this holiday season?
Sales manager Eric Girard at Van Holten's told CosmeticDesign.com, “We initially intended for the Big Papa Dill Pickle Lip Balm to be a quirky promotional giveaway at trade shows, but the response was so positive that we decided to add it to our product line.”
The pickle flavored product contains a proprietary blend with dill extract, is SPF 15 and adorns the trademark Holten’s pickle-in-a pouch character.
Although a novel and fun present to give to someone this holiday season, Girard stresses that the lip balm is practical. “This is a real product, with traditional lip balm ingredients.”
Holten’s was approached by a certified ingredients supplier to the cosmetic industry that was unsure about how to market such an unusual flavor. A product right up this company’s pickled alley.
So what does the future hold for Van Holten’s in the cosmetic industry, perhaps a pickle flavored eye cream or shampoo?
Girard says; “We are wide open to those ideas”.
“The company’s been operating since 1893, we are always looking to expand the business”, he concludes.
As well as the lip balm, Van Holten’s produce six flavors of pickles, Hearty Dill, Zesty Garlic, Hot & Spicy, Tart & Tangy, Sweet & Tangy and Chipotle.
