Clariant launches Quiospheres for everyday cosmetotextiles

Global textile solutions provider, Clariant has developed Quiospheres microcapsules in a joint partnership with Lipotec, an expert in the micro-encapsulation of luxury cosmetics.

The partners in this innovation claim that the cosmetic properties of microcapsules are to protect and help regenerate the skin while activating microcirculation to improve the skin’s overall complexion.

We have combined Lipotec’s cosmetic expertise with our textile technology to create a product that provides genuine, proven cosmetic results”, a Clariant spokesperson told CosmeticsDesign-Europe.com

While a Lipotec spokesperson added; “The performance of Quiospheres opens new opportunities within cosmetotextiles and provides brands with an excellent technology to draw further innovations to the market while fulfilling growing consumer demand for effective wearable skin care.”

Variety

Currently, there are two variants of the micro-encapsulation available to manufacturers and brands.

The first, Quiospheresmoist, which, according to the company, “has hydrating and moisturising properties and transfers softness and smoothness are based on two active ingredients: Lipotec’s Antarcticine and Xpertmoist Antarcticine is a glycoprotein originally found in the Antarctic Sea.”

While the second variant, Quiospheresslim “May help to improve the body-shape and transfers elasticity and firmness. It contains Relistase, a novel peptide that enhances body skin elasticity and tightness by inhibiting excess elastase activity.”

Two step technology

The benefits of the microcapsules are said to be released onto the skin through a two-step technology or “simply an attraction and reaction process.”

According to the partners, “the first step is the transfer of the microcapsules from the textile onto the skin.”

While the second is; “The gradual release and transfer of the cosmetic ingredients into the skin caused by the reaction or activity of natural skin enzymes with the microcapsule shell’s components, allowing the ingredients to be delivered to the skin.”

“The release of the ingredients is scientifically measured and continues for an extended period of time on any kind of fabric, be it woven, non-woven or knitted”, concluded the Clariant spokesperson.
