It is less than a month to go until Cosmoprof North America opens its doors in Las Vegas and this year’s show will include a number of new features, including the Spotlights brand innovation platform.

The new addition to the show has been designed to allow smaller companies to showcase their creativity, while also providing an economically viable means of promoting their brands and product innovations, the show organizer claims.

Each year the event attracts a number of independent retailers, salon and spa owners, together with international buyers from cosmetic and personal care companies big and small, based in over 100 different countries.

Spotlights aims to house the smaller artisanal labels that often do not have the financial resources to invest heavily in promoting their brands, many of which incorporate ground-breaking technologies, or else could serve to establish new niche trends.

The first ever Spotlights line-up currently includes 20 brands from eight different countries. Here we have selected some of the most interesting launches and brands:

ACQUARELLA – USA

Acquarella is a water-based nail polish brand that uses advanced, water-based technology without harmful petrochemical solvents and chemicals. This green-alternative polish is designed for individuals with allergy concerns such as asthma, as well as specific religious beliefs, as well as those who may be pregnant or in cancer remission.

EYESLICES – SOUTH AFRICA

Eyeslices are multi award-winning, innovative, reusable eye treatment masks that use cryogel polymer technology. The maker claims that eyeslices offer an all-in-one solution to puffiness, dark circles, tiredness, redness and wrinkles, while the biotanix eyeslices target different eye concerns.

LA C C BY LA COULEUR COUTURE – USA

La C C provides vegan-friendly nail lacquers, available in various colors that combine a unique basecoat formula to ensure the long lasting protection for nails, while the topcoat offers what the maker describes as ‘diamond-like’ shine.

LINE N GROW BY LASHIOUS – USA

Line N Grow by Lashious is the first-ever line of all-natural, non-toxic lash-growing eye liners. Available in five shades, Line N Grow also offers a clear colored treatment serum for lashes and brows. The maker claims that longer eyelashes can be obtained through natural means in 30 days, while all of the packaging comes from a facility that is run on wind energy.

NIA24 – USA

NIA 24 Niacin-Powered Skin Therapy is said to deliver a patented Pro-Niacin molecule deep within the skin's layers to build a stronger, healthier skin barrier from the inside-out that is more resilient and resistant to sun damage. It is also claimed to provide complete prevention and protection and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines, brown spots and hyperpigmentation.

PEACEKEEPER CAUSE-METICS – USA

A premier non-violence advocate cosmetics line, PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics’s celebrity/media-driven organic & natural products are said to be rated as one of the safest in the industry. While sourcing certain ingredients from developing world farmers, PeaceKeeper Cause-Metics says it is supporting these farmers in a sustainable trade. They are also said to be the first make-up company in history to donate all of its profits, after taxes, to women’s health and human rights advocacy issues.

RSD GROUP CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS – FRANCE

Renov’Smile, a latest tooth whitening system for the home, is claimed to be the only professional, miniaturized device, made and developed by the RSD’s laboratory in France. It was invented by dental surgeon Dr. Marc Arfi, alongside with cosmetic sector engineers and professionals.

SHEA TERRA ORGANICS – USA

Shea Terra Organics sources the organic and wild harvested ingredients from all regions of Africa. The environment is said to be almost free of modern pollution, in turn growing some of the safest, unchanged botanical ingredients on earth.
