Anti-aging benefits of egg oil laid out by Natural Sourcing

Ingredients supplier Natural Sourcing has launched its natural egg oil product for cosmetics application aimed at healing dry skin, reducing wrinkles and reducing premature hair loss.

The Connecticut-based firm announced the availability of its new product [INCI: Egg Oil] within its growing line of specialty oils for use in personal care products.

“Natural Sourcing's Egg Oil is 100 percent natural oil extracted through a special technical process from hen eggs. It contains no chemicals, additives or preservatives,” says the company.

Quality cholesterol source

“As the oil is protein-free, the cholesterol is readily absorbed into the skin and hair. Personal care products containing cholesterol have shown great promise in healing dry and damaged skin and in conditioning damaged or color treated hair. Egg Oil may also help reduce premature hair loss.”

Egg Oil is a high quality and functional source for cholesterol. The topical application of the cholesterol found in Egg Oil is gaining attention for its ability to nourish, moisturize and improve the condition of skin and restore the health of damaged hair.

“It is also a good choice for inclusion in formulations for maturing skin” continues Natural Sourcing.

Testing

Testing carried out by the ingredients supplier indicates that the product exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, and that Egg Oil has a significant potential to rapidly heal burns, reduce scarring and reduce the appearance of aging scars.

It also displays several hair and nail care properties, making it suited for application in these products as well as in moisturizers and lip care products.

It could also have potential application in the oral care sector, as testing indicates that Egg Oil may also play a beneficial role in preventing or slowing the progression of periodontal disease.

Egg Oil is rich in essential fatty acids including Omega-3 Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Omega-6 essential fatty acids.

Used for years

Egg yolk has been used in traditional cosmetics for thousands of years and can be used as a carrier in a variety of cosmetic preparations such as creams, ointments, sun-screen products or lotions where it acts as an emollient, moisturizer, anti-oxidant, penetration enhancer, occlusive skin conditioner and anti-bacterial agent.

VAV Life Sciences, based in India, uses its product Oleova for sunscreen applications but has also been exploring its application in hair and skin care formulations.

“Egg yolk oil has been used for hair care, skin care and burns for thousands of years. However, we have attempted to revive the use of it in a safe way as it is free of proteins for those who may be allergic to eggs,” VAV spokesperson Stuti Singh told CosmeticsDesign.com USA.
