Ganeden Biotech further backs up anti-aging claims with new research
Despite having previously carried out studies on the patented probiotic derived ingredient, Ganeden says this most recent research proves without doubt that 'Bonicel' improves skin hydration, elasticity, under eye puffiness and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
"We are thrilled that once again, a third-party, placebo controlled study demonstrates that Bonicel is effective as a combination anti-aging beauty ingredient,” says vice president of scientific operations, David Keller.
Few probiotics have made the grade, says Ganden
Bonicel is produced naturally during the fermentation process of GanedenBC30 - the company’s proprietary probiotic strain and is easy to include in formulations “unlike most probiotic ingredients used in topical formulations, including Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium.”
According to the biotech company, it utilizes the proprietary processes to optimize the metabolic activity of the fermenting organism, producing maximum amounts of naturally derived L+ Lactic acid, bacteriocins, hydrogen peroxide, enzymes and other metabolites.
“We are seeing a lot of introductions in ‘probiotic’ topical skin care products, but few, if any, have research demonstrating they work at time of application. We’re excited that we have science showing that Bonicel does,” says Keller.
The tests
Tests that back up Bonicel claims include a double blind, placebo-controlled study, conducted on female subjects ages 35 to 60.
That research, according to the company, found the product to dramatically reduce the signs of aging, increase skin hydration by 16 percent, skin elasticity by 11 percent, and decrease fine lines and wrinkles in 50 percent of respondents after four weeks.
In addition to results measured clinically by cutometer and silicone replica, subjects' self reports found that 75 percent reported, "The dark circles under my eyes are less visible" while 75 percent of the treatment group reported, "The skin around my eyes feels more moisturized."
