New hair care launches round-up: in-cosmetics preview
The annual Award will also be presented to honour the development of a novel active or functional ingredient that combines innovative science and product features in a way that demonstrates substantial benefits to manufacturers and to end-users when compared with existing ingredients.
New launches
Galaxy Surfactants will be looking to take the award home as it showcases its GalHueShield HCS hair conditioner at the show.
The ingredient is chemically P-methoxy cinnamidopropyl behenyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, and is a hair conditioner with a very powerful UV absorbing moiety.
Galaxy Surfactants claims it prevents the fading of applied hair colours and exhibits good conditioning properties; thereby enhancing sensory attributes through wash-off hair-care formulations like shampoo and conditioners.
Ichimaru Pharcos will debut in the Zone with its Soapnut Extract Powder, which is developed by using a unique extraction technology to keep its surfactant properties while enhancing other benefits for the final consumer.
The raw material, soapnut (Sapindus trifoliatus) is obtained from the world largest organic soapnut farm and can be used in both skin and hair care applications.
Sustainable options
Symrise will launch its SymHair Force 1631 natural anti-hair loss active developed from a sustainable source of microalgae.
“An in vivo randomized single blind study showed an increase in hair density after 3 months of use,” claims the company. “It enhances the hair’s volumes, provides thicker and more voluminous hair.”
TRI-K Industries has gone down the damage repair route with its Quinoa Pro EX launch. The cosmetic benefits found in TRI-K’s new ingredient include hair damage repair, hair colour retention, added manageability and superior shine.
Furthermore, the ingredient is paraben-free and gluten-free, making it ideal for natural hair coloration products, conditioning shampoos, and revitalizing conditioners.
Conditioners
Moving on to the hair conditioners Lucas Meyer Cosmetics will showcase its Phytenso soft hair straightener proposed as an alternative to aggressive chemical relaxers.
Gattefossé, meanwhile, will launch its Lipocire A SG conditioner for hair and skin care, made using only RSPO segregated palm and palm kernel oils.
Esculane is a natural active ingredient of marine origin from BiotechMarine, designed to fight dandruff, by stimulating the keratinocyte expression of SKALP/elafin, a biomolecular marker for disturbed squamous differentiation.
AMSilk’s high purity spider silk will also feature in the Innovation Zone, claiming to be the first cosmetically functional silk in the world: forming a thin film on the skin or on hair, creating a protective film layer that regulates moisture.
