Online training course tackles product development for ethnic skin

The Center for Professional Advancement is holding an online training course developed to help skin care professionals develop targeted products designed for ethnic skin.

The 90 minute accredited course will be held on April 25, 11am – 12:30pm EST and is targeted at professionals in the areas of research and development, formulation, regulatory, clinical trials and legal functions.

While the course will be broadcast live at this time, it can also be downloaded on demand, for individuals who are unable to attend on the day.

R&D, regulatory and sales professionals

Likewise, professionals involved in the regulatory and marketing and sales areas for products that are topically applied will also benefit from the program.

The course will provide basic information about different skin types, drilling down on color categories, as well as racial and ethnic factors in an effort to shine more light on different biological properties.

In the color cosmetics segment it is well recognized that different skin colors require different shades of eye, lip and skin make-up to match different skin tones.

Ethnicity and skin color can define skin care formulations

However, ethnicity and skin variations can define more than just skin color. They can also define different needs for the skin types because they respond differently to the wide variety of topical agents.

“The knowledge about skin-of-color differences should be incorporated into the development of skin care, personal care and pharmaceutical products, and into their testing and marketing,” an abstract from the course description states.

Registration for the course is now open, with an individual registration rate of $295, and a discounted group rate of $245 per person if there are two or more enrollments at the same time.
