in-cosmetics 2013 : the top stories from the show
Undoubtedly the highlight of the show was its sheer size and visitor numbers. Cathy Laporte, group marketing manager for organizer Reed Exhibitions, described the show as ‘absolutely fantastic’ and shared figures that testified to the fact the event had broken all records.
Final visitor numbers through the exhibition doors were 9,400, which the organiser said represented an almost 20 percent increase on the previous record attendance, set at the last Paris event in 2010.
Best ingredients innovations
Acknowledging some of the biggest industry contributions over the course of the past year, the in-cosmetics awards honoured both the best ingredients innovations, together with a nod towards the industry’s lifetime achiever.
A poll that took votes from 1,200 industry professionals this year chose to acknowledge Dr. Karl Lintner as the Lifetime Achiever for his work in the area of skin biochemistry, and in holding key executive positions at both Henkel and Sederma.
Meanwhile, Switzerland—based Induchem took top prize at the in-cosmetics Innovation Zone Best Ingredient award, with its newly launched anti-ageing ingredient Neodermyl.
The other finalists that were awarded prizes included Symrise, which took the silver award for its SymHair Force 1631 ingredient, and BiotechMarine, which was given the bronze prize for its new anti-dandruff ingredient Esculane.
Twelve videos demonstrate show's highlights
The Cosmetics Design also shot 12 videos at the show, which will be published during the course of the next few weeks. The first of these to be seen is an interview with Helene Hine, marketing manager at Croda, who spoke about the development of the company’s Solaveil portfolio of ingredients, which is being promoted on the back of its sensory properties.
The coverage also included a photo gallery that highlighted areas such as Mintel’s Innovation Zone, together with some of the most eye-catching booth designs and product launches.
And next year, the event organiser has confirmed that in-cosmetics will be held in Hamburg, Germany in from 1 – 3 April, a location that will serve the significant number of cosmetics players that are also based around this region.
