The latest trending fragrance flavours revealed!
Based on it's own global research, Seven’s latest trends report reveals an early insight into what the industry can expect to see in demand for autumn-winter 2014/15.
According to Miri Scott, the company's fragrance insight manager; “As we move into the autumn, there is a natural shift towards fragrances that evoke a sense of warmth and comfort.”
“We expect to see light summer florals giving way to an altogether darker, more intense use of rich rose and red berries, as well as a dash of spirit-inspired notes to give a seductive character to fragrances,” she adds.
Favoured flavours
Amongst the scents noted for success, Scott reveals appearing for its third season will be the rich, velvety and dramatic interpretation of the rose, coupled with intense notes of saffron and oud.
The fragrance expert also says dark, rich, plump and juicy berries will add depth to fragrances, as they are 'true autumnal ingredients'.
"We will also see 'scents of spirits' such as gin-like notes of juniper berries and the smoky aromas of whiskey and rum, which are set to add complexity and a 'sophisticated edge'," says Scott.
With the global fragrance market expected to reach $15.7 (€11.7) billion by 2017, natural ingredients like these are driving demand and creating more opportunities for innovation.
Seven’s interpretation of these trends
The company's bi-annual report also offers its own interpretation of these trends in the form of three distinct fragrance directions for the 2014/15 autumn-winter season.
According to Scott, these themes can be described as 'Futuristic Folklore', 'Energetic Kaleidoscope' and 'Engineered Evolution'.
The first category includes strong, bold constructions where oil soaked leather and urban woods lead to a sculptured base of metallic musks and amber resin. The second features much warmer, richer and spicier fragrances inspired by a multi-cultural world, whilst the third is said to appeal to the digital generation with fruity berries, heady floral accents and warm base of sandalwood and musks.
