People on the move – this month’s big movers and shakers
Lisa Powers has been promoted to the top spot at the Personal Car Products Council, having being appointed as executive vice president for public affairs and communications at the industry organization.
Powers, who holds an M.A. in Public Affairs and Communications from American University, will further develop her role overseeing the development and execution of strategic and public affairs programs for the PCPC.

This role entails managing media relations and the integration of multi-faceted communications targeted towards the 600 member companies the organization represents and the industry as a whole.
“For the past eight years, Lisa has been a tireless advocate for our member companies, their commitment to safety, quality and innovation, and the consumers who trust and use our products every day,” said Lezlee Westine, the Council’s President and CEO.
“This promotion reflects Lisa’s exceptional background in developing strategic public information initiatives, both nationally and globally, on a variety of issues facing our industry.”
AkzoNobel appoints sales manager in Brazil
The personal care business of AkzoNobel Surface Chemistry has announced the appointment of Hoda Nahas as sales and marketing manager for the company’s operations in Brazil.
According to the company, Nahas will be responsible for identifying prospective new customers, monitoring emerging trends and challenges for existing customers, and strategic development of the sales and promotion of AkzoNobel technologies for the hair care, skin care and sun care sectors of the personal care market in Brazil.
She will be based at the company’s Sao Paulo office and will report to Karla Mello, who is region head of the company’s South America operations.
Charkit appoints west coast sales exec
Charkit Chemical has announced that Angie Inouye will become the new sales account executive to West Coast region.
“Angie Inouye’s appointment reflects our determination to expand Charkit’s presence on the West Coast, maximizing new opportunities while also building and enhancing the service we offer to our existing client base in this important region,” said Charles Hinnant, president of the company.
Inouye has previously worked in a sales and marketing role for Bioscreen Testing and is also the 2014 Chair Elect of the California chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists.
