Spanish company Pujolasos, which develops and produces wooden packaging for the cosmetic and fragrance sectors, has launched a standard range of wooden make-up packaging.

The range consists of lipstick, lip-gloss, mascara and nail polish packaging, as well as a lotion pack and compact. Pujolasos highlights that with an array of colours and finishes available, the range can easily be customised to suit the individual requirements of brands.

All of the components in the wooden make-up packaging range are sheathed with massive ash, Pujolasos says, and they all boast certification endorsed by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Working throughout the entire forest supply chain to promote good practice, PEFC aims to ensure that production of timber and non-timber forest products occurs with respect for the highest ethical, social and ecological standards.

Natural and sustainable

The PEFC certification highlights the environmentally-friendly aspect of wood as a packaging material, making it an ideal choice for brands targeting consumers who are looking for products that are natural and sustainable.

“Wood is natural, it has a soft touch, and each component is unique due to wood grain,” commented Pujolasos’ CEO Isabel Pujolasos. “It becomes a real pleasure for the consumer to use her lipstick or compact daily,” she added.

Several cosmetics companies have woken up to the benefits of wood as a packaging component, particularly its perceived high value, something which is seeing it become popular with luxury firms.

Pujolasos promoting luxury wood packaging

Pujolasos, which recently teamed up with distributor SGB Packaging to promote luxury wood cosmetics and fragrance packaging in the North American market, has worked with an array of brands including Visoanka, Oriflame and Au Pays de la Fleur d'Oranger.

The packaging provider supplied Visoanka with a beech wood cap for the cosmetics firm’s Source Premiere cleanser, responding to a customer brief that required the component be similar to the brand’s formulas: natural, innovative and efficient.

Pujolasos also developed a customised wood cap in ash, stained dark wengé, for Oriflame’s Native Force men’s fragrance, and two wooden caps (one light and one dark) in ash for French brand Au Pays de la Fleur d'Oranger.
