The BRC awarded Rieke a grade ‘A’ status Global Standard for Packaging and Packaging Materials with respect to its overall manufacturing standards, including quality and safety.
The Rieke facility produces moulding and assemblies for dispensing systems, including pumps and closures used in personal care, perfumes and cosmetics, as well as some household and food products.
Independently assessed auditing process
The BRC audit was carried out independently by international audit company SGS, as part of strictly controlled measures to ensure the legitimacy and integrity of the exercise.
The audit rated the manufacturing facility for standards of quality, safety and operational criteria in an effort to ensure that it is fulfilling all regulatory requirements, both in China and internationally, with the ultimate aim of ensuring protection for the consumer.
What is now becoming increasingly important with the BRC standard is the fact that it incorporates many fundamental requirements made by leading retailers of their suppliers, both in the UK and internationally.
Aligning global manufacturing standards
Rieke has 11 manufacturing locations, including four facilities in the US, Mexico City, England, Germany and Vietnam, together with representative offices in Singapore and Thailand and product development centers in the UK and the US, providing services and products to 21,000 suppliers in over 90 countries.
The BRC audit was undertaken as part of moves to ensure its global manufacturing meets the same standards.
“We are delighted at the achievement of our Hangzhou operation,” said Mark Box of Rieke Packaging Systems.
“In particular, it underlines the capabilities of our Chinese operations and gives confidence to our customers that Rieke excellence comes as standard at all our worldwide locations.”
