California authorities call on cosmetics companies to participate in product survey
The California Air Resource Board (CARB), the clean air agency for the state government of California, has requested that all personal care companies complete a survey detailing products sold in the state during 2013.

And the big incentive for all companies involved to get the survey completed by March 2, 2015 is the fact that companies will be fined a fee of $10,000 for every day they are late with their submission.

2013 survey extended to include all cosmetics

However, the 2013 survey applies to all types of consumers products sold in the state of California during that year, including all types of cosmetic and personal care products.

The wider extent of the survey was bought to attention by industry association ICMAD, which put out an industry alert earlier this week.

Full details of the survey and how to complete it are included in this link, which is in a new electronic Consumer Products Reporting Tool (CPRT) format:

CARB also stipulate that a single representative label must be included in the survey submission, while the survey requirements also stipulate that ingredients and products can be grouped together under certain circumstances.

Here are details of the how to group products and ingredients as part of the survey requirements, which also detail that specifications for fragrance ingredients are not required:

It should also be noted that CARB staff is currently developing tools for reporting 2014 and 2015 consumer product data, while a tutorial webinar to demonstrate how CPRT works will be broadcast on December 15, 2014.

CARB staff will conduct a webinar to go over the CPRT data upload on December 15, 2014, for which registration is available at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/111660040.
