People on the move – the latest industry appointments

Latest hiring and promotions this month in include key appointments at fine chemicals provider Charkit, a cosmetics dedicated executive at silicones provider Shin Etsu.

Japanese-headquartered Shin Etsu is further expanding its North American footprint with the appointment of Tameru Getahoun to head up new silicone raw materials and formulation development at its state of the art cosmetic application laboratory.

Getahoun has been appointed as laboratory manager, and will be responsible for the Totwon, New Jersey facility, focusing on managing advancements, as well as being an active member of the chemical lab team.

Having previously served as research and development leader for regional and brand category for all color groups at Avon, in his new position he will tap into over 20 years of experience that culminated in developing and managing an innovative R&D team.

 report directly to John Heitler, COO, and will have objectives that include the development of formulations to demonstrate the benefits of the company’s materials and technologies, as well as providing interaction between sales and customers to drive technical assistance.

“Our pivotal goal is to provide customer service to drive innovative uses. Being hands-on in the lab alongside our team of chemists will also be an integral part of meeting the goals and objectives of SESA and its cosmetic customers,” said Gethahoun.

He also stressed the importance of going ‘beyond-the-basics’ in incorporating silicone formulations in different types of cosmetic products across multiple application platforms−making it easier for customers to leverage the outstanding sensory benefits of silicone.

Charkit appoints VPO

Fine chemicals player Charkit has announced the appointment of Lee Wachter, who took up the position of senior vice president of operations last month.

In the new position, Wachter will report directly to company president Charles Hinnant, and will lead all global supply chain operations, including customer service, purchasing, logistics, third-party warehouses and materials management.

He will also be responsible for information technology and its application to improve and optimize the company operations as part of the company’s strategic objectives.

Wachter has ten years of successfully working for private equity companies and twenty years with leading fortune 500, Business to Business and Business to Consumer companies.
