Sustainable Cosmetics Summit to focus on greener alternatives
To be held at the Marriott New York Downtown, this sixth edition of the summit will take place from May 14 – 16 and will focus on sustainable ingredients, marketing, social and consumer impacts.
The program will kick off with an opening keynote speech from Sophie Uliano, who will be stressing the relationship between healthy diet, exercise, lifestyle choices and natural beauty.
Sustainability update and what’s new for ingredients
Beyond that, the first day of the conference will be devoted to a sustainability update in the morning, followed by a session about advances in sustainable ingredients in the afternoon.
On the 15th of May, the program will be divided into three sessions, beginning in the morning with a session about marketing developments, followed by an afternoon roundtable session that will debate a series of industry challenges and how best to tackle them, and topped off with a session about social and customer impacts.
The third day will the annual workshop, which this year will be headed up by Organic Monitor’s Judi Beerling and will focus on green preservatives for personal care products.
Green emulsifiers and surfactants
The sustainable ingredients session will look at the growing options in the field of green emulsifiers and surfactants, including squalene and microplastic exfoliants, which have both come under scrutiny for their environmental impact.
Likewise, there will also be a focus on nanomaterials, palm oil, and the safety of a wide range of natural materials.
The final session of the conference will look at the way ingredients firms can add social value and engage with customers, with presentations from frontrunners such as Burt’s Bees.
