Last year’s event was seen as a tester for Reed Exhibitions to determine if the cosmetics ingredients market in Brazil and Latin America was ready for an event of this kind.
The overwhelming response was a big yes, with the first event at the Säo Paulo World Trade Center attracting 2,185 unique visitors to see a total of 192 exhibitors.
New, bigger venue
Building on the success of last year’s event, this year’s show is being held in the much bigger Expo Center Norte, in the Northern part of the city, and will be held between the 30th of September and the 1st of October.
This year’s event will also feature enhanced educational content, building on last year’s program of workshops and innovations seminars to expand into marketing trends seminars.
Likewise, the show floor will also feature a specific focus on raw materials, specifically targeted at the R&D and marketing professionals from all over Latin America that will be expected to visit the event.
International component
Last year11% of the attendees were international and this year the organizer is anticipating on building on this figure to 13%, with those visitors mostly coming from Colombia, Mexico, Chile and Argentina.
But it is on the exhibitor side where the international component is really strong, with an estimated 65% of this year’s companies expected to be from around 20 different countries.
Likewise, both the attendance and exhibitor numbers are expected to be well up on last year, with names such as Akzo Nobel, Ashland, Beraca, Evonik and Gattefossé in a list that is expected to exceed more than 200 companies.
Building on the success
With the innovation zone set to be expanded to twice the size, this year’s event will also include a number of completely new additions, including the Formulation Display area – devoted to raw materials and formulations.
In this area visitors are invited to see and experience firsthand the texture and functionality of ingredients and formulations.
Likewise, there will also be the addition of the Fragrance Trail, a concept employed at other in-cosmetics events and designed to highlight innovations from a cross-section of fragrance providers.
Educational program
The marketing trends program will include a number of presentations from key market research experts at Euromonitor International, Kline and Mintel.
A presentation titled “The new beauty consumer: Trends in Brazil and the rest of the world”, will be given by Mintel’s Vivienne Rudd, while the presentation from Kline will focus on opportunities in the European, US and China markets, and Euromonitor will focus on special active ingredients.
The event will also feature ITEHPEC (Institute of Technology and Studies of Toiletries, Fragrance and Cosmetics) workshops aimed specifically at R&D professionals, including workshop themes such as managing innovation projects and an update on ISO organics.
