The Bay Area Beauty Association is up and running
A new industry organization based in San Francisco, California, is serving regional industry professionals with educational events, workshops, and networking.

Launched just last month, The Bay Area Beauty Association has an events calendar comprising monthly webinars and short-format quarterly events, and is catering to busy beauty and personal care professionals that don’t have time for full-day programing or frequent travel to larger cities where events are more common.

Privileges of membership

The group has a membership option that offers benefits beyond the basic programming described above. This option gives participants “deeper, more immediate connections including a job bank,” explains the group’s press release. Additional benefits will be added as strategic corporate partnerships (already in the works) are finalized.

The association’s corporate membership roster already includes Anisa International, DHC Skincare, Perricone MD, and Peninsula Beauty. Numerous individuals have also joined up the in these first weeks.

Off to a good start

On May 19th, The Bay Area Beauty Association will host its second event. Set to take place at the Loews Regency Hotel in San Francisco, it will feature a presentation on technology / retail. And, event sponsors will include Perricone MD and Kryolan Professional Makeup, “both of which,” the association is quick to point out, “have headquarters in San Francisco.”

“We are really humbled and appreciative of the outpour of support from the local beauty community, other organizations and the trade,” Sinead Norenius, BABA Board Member, tells the press. “Our first event had an impressive turn out including all the large players in the industry like Sephora, Benefit, EVER by Stella & Dot, Rodan & Fields, P&G, investment bankers and other smaller indie brands.”

Opportunity knocks

An association of this sort is overdue in the Bay Area. “SF and Silicon Valley lead the tech industry and we have so much at our disposal in our backyard,” observes Norenius.

“We need to leverage that and help bring more disruptive innovation to our members, especially in e-commerce and the digital space,” she adds, going on to promise that “BABA will be that resource.”

“With vast amounts of brands, manufacturers, suppliers, packaging companies, e-commerce and technology companies and a thriving resort and spa community [in the Bay Area,]… We are clearly fulfilling a need in this area and it is our goal to develop and strengthen the beauty industry community, plus provide valuable education and workshops unlike no other,” affirms Norenius and her colleagues.

On the group’s board with Norenius are Jill Dunk, Ronie Schmelz and Jeannie Jarnot.
