Art of Packaging Award Gala raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for design scholarships

The annual celebration was held earlier this month in New York City. Besides the usual fragrance industry luminaries and honorees, the event attracted celebrity guests including Arlene Dahl, Lorenzo Lamas, and Derek Lam, who presented the 2017 Art of Packaging Award.

A final dollar amount isn’t yet available, but this year’s edition of the annual gala raised close to $300,000 to benefit the Marc Rosen Scholarship Fund for Packaging by Design at Pratt Institute.

The renowned cosmetics and luxury fragrance packaging designer teaches at Pratt. His course culminates with students developing a full fragrance packaging collection comprising a perfume bottle prototype, a scent card, box, shopping bag, and advertisement. The best of these from his most recent class were on display at the gala.

According to a post-event press release, “The Art of Packaging Award is presented annually to a beauty industry company or individual that has excelled in the art form of package design.”
