Late last month the company announced the “mega-milestone” in a press release outlining how AR tech is already changing the way consumers, retailers, and brands engage with each other and transact beauty commerce.
“We are proud to announce this incredible achievement as our suite of YouCam Apps has been downloaded more than 500 million times in our journey to redefine the customer beauty shopping experience,” Alice H. Chang, CEO of Perfect Corp, tells the press.
Chang goes on to note how AR tech in particular is becoming a normal part of consumer’s beauty experience: “The world is embracing augmented reality more than ever,” she says, “engaging and integrating beauty AR technology in their daily beauty routines.”
In the early days of any new tech, experimentation, feedback, and consumer adoption matter. Chang knows this and expressed her appreciation for everyone’s involvement. “We want to thank our valued users across the globe for continuing to challenge us to push the boundaries of beauty and technology from AR to AI and beyond in order to bring beauty lovers everywhere more exciting and unique experiences,” she says.
Future perfect
Perfect Corp apps are quite popular, particularly with millennial consumers, who (according to the release) take over 30 million selfies each day and use the apps to try on makeup more than 1 billion times each month.
And the company’s ongoing work with both AR and AI (artificial intelligence or machine learning) will bring these consumers more tools and options for trying and buying beauty. To date, YouCam has partnered with 150+ brands to create personalized mobile shopping experiences; those brands include Estée Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, L’Oréal Paris, and MAC Cosmetics.
With its beauty tech tools Perfect Corp is “completely reinventing the online-to-offline (O2O) consumer beauty journey,” according to the release. And this download milestone is likely only the beginning.
